June Action: "The Bad Ballots"
June inclines gracefully down from the rafters of the warehouse, quickly finding herself in the midst of the Eight Readers and their stolen ballot boxes; her harness tugs once before breaking free.
Using a combination of aikido and jujutsu, June sets immediately to the work of violently dismantling this gang of vote riggers: they’re disorganised and obvious in their techniques, what few they have. She hip throws the First Reader, causing him to slide hard and knock the feet out from under the Second, before swinging to backhand the Third Reader in the face. Her hand draws back red as the Third Reader stumbles, hand clutching a shattered nose.
The remaining five begin to circle around her, only to inhale a noxious gas as they attempt to close in. Clouds of the green smoke choke them, tears rolling down their cheeks as they futilely attempt to find their quarry in the murk. Each one falls in their own turn, either from the gas or from the surgical strikes of our hero, June Action.
A weak clapping is heard, June looking to the source with wariness. A suited man wearing an open-book mask appears, clapping lightly against the palm of his hand as he approaches.
BOOKMAKER: “I didn’t know you were a registered voter, Miss Action.”
JUNE ACTION: “Defending democracy is every citizens job.”
June leaps at the Bookmaker, catching him right under the ribcage with a sudden elbow shock. He falls backward under her weight, taking another hit to the face as he goes down. June flips up to recover her stance and looks down at him, frowning.
JUNE ACTION: “You’re through, Bookmaker.”
The Bookmaker shakes his head lightly, pointing out the television on a wall frame, a news show playing election results live.
BOOKMAKER: “Heh, heh… Electronic voting machines.”
June walks carefully toward the television, looking up with horror as the results begin to play…
